Hello!

Well I have some photo’s of Max but they are of our trip to Minnesota. I forgot I had Tony take all the photo’s off this card before I left. We went to Minnesota to attend a religious conference on opening a child care center.

Max looking out at the tarmac.
Lewis patiently waiting in the airport.
Trucks! And a bus! (Plane)
Pizza in the airplane (no they didn’t serve it but he did get it from the terminal).
Toe! Okay head but Max is watching Baby Learns Chinese. I would have rear faced him but car seat wouldn’t fit that way. 🙁
We made use of the snap and go stroller! This is in Minnesota. For the record that is an infant car seat, Max’s car seat and a bag with other things. We also had 2 other bags.

Max in the bus to the hotel!

Max and Lewis in Mall of America!

Max with Lewis in conferance
Max looking at Trucks outside the hotel in the room!

Trucks!!!
Max did very well on the trip. The flight there was very turbulat on the take off and the plane would rise then drop. Max thought this was a grand old time! Laughing the whole time.
One we were at the conference he did very well and became a fixture there. He would play or draw and was making friends with everyone. He enjoyed the bus to the Mall of America and back and to the airport. On the way back he fell asleep before we took off and then only woke when we were descending. All told he was very good though he HATED the security check points. He was very upset by them (taking off coat and shoes) and screamed the whole time. I am sure some of that was because I was frantic but he didn’t like that part.
The conference was great and we walked away with lots of information that we will have to prayerfully convey to the congregation. I can see this turn very easily into my project that helps me get through this time till we can get our next children. 😉
Yesterday Max had his first professional haircut. Here are photos from that.

He did very well and was half asleep as he just woke up. PERFECT timing if you ask me!
Today we had donuts in the car. We normally go to Burger King when we finish the Catholic services but are not ready for the Lutheran Bible study. Well they were closed today (someone didn’t show up to work!). So we went to a local grocery store that has a breakfast bar. Well they were not having that this weekend!! So we ended up with donuts.

That is us in a nutshell. I will try to post his birthday photos soon once I get on the other computer.

Talk to you all later!
Jennifer

  1. Why do you still have him rear facing? Surely he’s over 20 pounds by now. How do you deal with his feet not hitting the seat and not being able to stretch out?

  2. Rear racing is much safer for children. It is recommended to use the car seat rear facing to the maximum parameters of the seat.
Just because a child’s feet hit the back of the seat doesn’t mean they need to be turned around. They can put them over the sides of the seat or sit cross-legged. And from the looks of this photo, he’s pretty stretched out and comfy without his feet hitting the seat.
Kids are resilient. It doesn’t usually bother them to arrange their legs in a comfortable position.

@Sara- He’s very comfortable , and very safe. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you use the car seat for the entire weight limit of the seat. On the seat this little boy is in , the limit is 45 lbs. So he will be rear facing until he’s 45 lbs. He will also be developed enough so when it comes time for forward facing his spine won’t be harmed by the force of an accident, if his mother gets into an accident that is. Right now his neck and spine are protected properly by his car seat. 1 year and 20 lbs is so old now and not the safest option.

@To the poster of this blog. I randomly found your blog looking at a parenting forum. I don’t have kids but I am an advocate for ERF. Your son is cute and he looks extremely happy (in general, not just in his car seat 😛 ) .
