We were doing fairly well this month then things happened.
Last Wednesday, I talked to my mom in the morning and said that I would Skype with her that night to talk about our trip down to florida in about a month. Then we went to protest an abortion clinic.
That night I Skyped my mom and immediately I knew something was wrong. She said that my step father had a stroke of some sort and he was in the hospital in New York City. She said she was waiting on his doctors to call her, and that was about all she knew. I immediately wanted to go to the hospital where he was, but seeing it is about 1 hour drive, and that Tony wasn’t home, I decided not to. After some back and forth it was determined that Mom would be flying up here the next morning, my birthday, then we would all go into the City after that on the train.
VERY little sleep later, I picked her up and we raced (as much as we could) up to NYC. I saw my step father and he looked good considering.
That night she came home with us, and the next day we did it all over again. At some point Friday, we look at this nearby hotel.
Saturday Max had German class so I went into the city with Mom and Nathaniel. Most of the day we were in the waiting room. I got to know the other families a bit during this time. Then we ventured out and went for a walk for a bit. It was nice out so that was good. Saturday night my mom comes home with us and packs up to stay in said hotel on Sunday night. I have a dermatologist appointment with Nathaniel on Monday morning so I go home on my own (with the baby).
Monday we drive into the city. It looks like my step father will be able to go home on Tuesday. It is an adventure to drive into the city. However we finally make it and park the car. We will be staying the night at the hotel with my mom.
On Tuesday my step father is released and I drive them to the airport. It is a whirlwind visit and one that was completely unplanned. My feet were sore for most of yesterday from all the walking that was done. However the good news is my step father is well on the mend and I imagine he will be near 100% when we see him in about a month. Just glad I could be there for my mom and he didn’t have this happen somewhere where there is no family!
Took this photo today and I thought it was funny!
We are slowly getting back into the swing of things. Today there was a recall on Nathaniel’s epipen though so I spent a good part of the morning dealing with that. Monday I have an allergist appointment. I have developed a peanut allergy and I fear it may getting worse. Want to find out.
