We spent much of last week getting ready for our trip. I decided not to obsess about it, which I will go into later. However I had sewing to do as I wanted the boys to have nice warm jackets for our trip. Nathaniel also needed a pair of pants… truth be told so did Max, but those didn’t get done.
Hard to believe it has been 7 years since we got our house. Had 2 kids and me have cancer in that time. Lets hope that the next 7 years are FAR less eventful!
We decided to take a night out and went to a local place that has been certified from Italy as making true Italian pizza. Now true margarita pizza is made with sauce, basil and mozzarella. I ate Nathaniel’s Mozzarella and gave him the rest. He loved it! Next time I will get him his own without cheese!
These are the back of the jeans I made Nathaniel. I am quite impressed with myself! I have 3 for Max cut out and 2 more for Nathaniel. Might see if I have enough kaki material to make at least one of the boys another pair in that. π
2 days before our trip I go to get my sunglasses and find that they are broken beyond repair. Frustrated I go to Sunglass hut (where I got my last pair) and she tries to tell me that I have to spend $200+ on sunglasses. I don’t feel right about that. I mean they are not prescription! So I think and think and decided that I should go to REI as my father-in-law loves that place. My boys are ALWAYS wanting to be outside anyway, and I need something that can handle the bumps and bruises that come with outdoor life. I find a pair for WELL under $200 and they have lenses that pop in and out that I can interchange with. So I get 2 pairs for the price (and space) of one! Too cool!
I had to take a few photos of Fenway before we left. He wasn’t coming with us again. But he was going to have lots of fun at home!
Max was very excited for our trip. So well before we were ready, he was!
We went up to Albany, NY and across Vermont and New Hampshire. What I didn’t realize is how hard it would be to find a place for lunch doing this. Oh well. We ended up at a grocery store and a sandwich.
The last time I was in New Hampshire was about 20 years ago. I remember seeing rest stops with liquor stores in them. I have since told people this and I think most thought my memory was a bit drunk. Here is my proof!
Finally we got to the campground. I looked around and I don’t think I have ever seen a cleaner place in my life! No dirt ANYWHERE! It was great!
There was a little cafe there just for the campers. They served breakfast and dinner/desert.
Later we had blueberry pie there.
Saturday we went driving through Portland, Maine (photos later, they were on Tony’s phone) and up to Freeport Maine where there was LL Bean. We ended up at the outlet mall where we got a HUGE duffle bag that will be PERFECT for camping. It has someone else’s initials on it, but that is nothing a seam ripper can’t fix. π
Note: Nathaniel is Nathaniel Harlow (Harlow after my late grandfather).
I tried my best to get this photo but you know children!
Some activities that we did at the park:
Max mining for shells (Nathaniel had rocks)
Biking!
I am not sure what is up with Nathaniel and his sleeping. He has been up till about midnight every night since we got back, and then sleeping till about 8. He has a decent nap in the day too. His new normal. Hopefully it will change soon.
Nathaniel last night in the trampoline.
I will now go and see if I can get some photos from Tony’s side of the computer…
