Schooling for Max an update on yesterday’s post…

We ordered All About Spelling for Max to start learning to spell right away. We decided that we would just skip over the spelling that is in his current curriculum once we get that.

We are debating the math program. I am trying to keep an open mind about things and see things for what they really are. We are currently doing Singapore Math Standards (not common core) math. While we like some aspects of this, we are also having issues with it. I am coming to realize that Max is very kinesthetic in his learning. So the more we have of that the better. I was looking at Saxon purely because of the spiral system vs the mastery Singapore. However now I am looking at other math programs including Math-U-See, Right Start Math, and Shiller Math. Shiller might be a good fit for us as Max does like going from one thing to another. Shiller also claims to be kinesthetic so that is a plus. I am going to try to get him to do part of the assessments that they have on their website so I can see if it seems like a good fit for us or not.

Next I am going to have to figure out the Nathaniel situation. Now that we are sure that we will not be using the distance learning school, I need to figure out a way that Nathaniel can be challenged and entertained, so I can focus on Max when needed. Not everything can be done at nap time.
