Today’s random thoughts…

First up is Nathaniel bouncing. Grandma requested this.

Next is my new toy! I got a Vitamix. Now when I think of Vitamix’s I think of cheesy infomercials that I used to watch as a child. I think it was sold as a smoothie maker and that was it. Well 25 years later, Vitamix is a lot different. This is a refurbished, step down from top of the line machine. It has 3 pre-program settings so it will make smoothies, frozen deserts, or hot soups on it’s own. It also has manuel controls for other uses. We have used it to make several smoothies and a hot soup so far. The hot soup is amazing to me. I put in a mixture that was warm but not hot, and the mixture that came out was steaming hot!! Amazing! The main reason why I wanted one is because eating dairy free you need to use other things to make things creamy. For this you are needing a powerful blender to turn EVERYTHING including even nuts, to baby food consistency. The food processor will not do it for me, so this was needed. Next week I plan on cooking a New England Clam chowder that is dairy free. Now you all know we lived in Boston when we first got married. To say I like and know clam chowder is an understatement. So it will be interesting to see if I can turn cashews into the creamy texture needed for the clam chowder. For that I will be using my Vitamix.

Next here is another book that I just got. I have always been curious about the jewish holidays that the Christians (for the most part) ignore. Converting as an adult I tend to question more then normal. I always wanted to know a good way to at least approach these holidays because, after all Jesus was a jew. This book is EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you wanted to know about looking at the Jewish holidays from a Christian perspective. It includes many, many activities for children, stories for adults to understand things, special meanings, how all of this relates to the new testament and even recipes central to all of this. While I am sure it isn’t Paleo, I would rather have the real thing for something like this.

We did start the Lenten Tree last night but because I am a bit behind with the ornaments, I don’t really have anything to show for it right now. Hopefully I will have something to photograph today.
