Today we went to get my port flush (God willing my last time!!!), and then to the OB and then to Ikea. The port flush was at 8 am so I had to leave the house at 6:30. Thankfully Max went along with this well and I didn’t even have to wake him!
We got there at about 7:45 and I walk right up to the triage nurse (no line), 5 minutes later I was going back to the infusion rooms and they accessed my port and sent me on my way! VERY fast! So I got out of there (with the car and everything) at 8:15. Bad too because my next appointment wasn’t till 10:30!
So I decided to go down to the waterfront area as I remembered there are some shops there. I thought this would be a good way to kill some time. We find a Walmart and walk around that for a bit. Yeah that wasn’t nearly as exciting as it sounds and I am sure it doesn’t sound that exciting. I remember that we needed a 9 volt battery for one of our CO detectors so I get one of those and the line in front of me (despite saying 20 items or less) is quite long with people that have more then 20 items! I don’t mind as I am still a good hour and half from my appointment time.
Max and I get out of there and I decide that we should move the van to a shady spot and wait till it is closer to the appointment time. Well after doing this and spending about 15 minutes in said van, I realize that this is not the day to wait in the car. The van quickly heats up (despite being in the shade) and I realize this isn’t good. I strap Max down and take the long way (or at least not highways) back to my next doctor.
I get to where my doctor’s office is and I am waiting to turn on the street where I would get into the parking garage. Some truck double parked and I am waiting there for about 5 minutes. It is so bad that I actually start wondering if I am going to be late to my appointment (despite it being 30 minutes till my appointment at this point). Finally a cop has the truck move and I get to go park.
Max and I stop and take a look at the fountain before going up to my OB. I apologize for getting there so early, but they don’t seem to mind. We wait in the waiting room till clearly past my appointment time. I don’t mind as I know I take up a lot of her time anyway… even when I am not there.
I go in and and find out that I have gained weight! YAY! I am up about 2 lbs. Which I am sure most women wouldn’t be happy about but I am actually happy about this! I am now 161 lbs. I am sure most of my family can’t even imagine me this big. Pregnant or not! I will try to get a good shot on Thursday of exactly how I am now.
My blood pressure and everything else is normal. My OB comes in and she is happy with me. She is working with the Anaethesiologist to try to get them to read my chart before I come in on the 18. I guess if they don’t it could delay things. She said not to worry, she will have it worked out and this is sort of a bit of politics. The good news is she says that the port should be accessed, they just need to get the right needle brought over to the OB side of the hospital. Supposedly there is a “team” at this hospital that will access my port. Why they need a “team” is beyond me. I thought all they needed was a qualified nurse! Oh and the right needle. Ha ha! She also says she “is happy with me”. YAY!! Finally she is happy with me!
After we leave there we go to Ikea. There are 2 Ikea’s in the area and we go to the one that is more out in the suburbs as I had already found out online that the closer one didn’t have what I wanted. It was quite a drive out there. I go over hills that I thought didn’t exist out here. I felt like I was in San Francisco at one point and that was odd to say the least. Finally we get to Ikea and Max and I have a great time!
Now we are home and that is our day. Tomorrow I have the dentist. Surprisingly I am actually looking forward to the dentist as I was on a special fluoride that was browning my teeth temporarily. It was to help with pregnancy gingivitis. It worked but I hate the way my teeth look. They told me it can be cleaned off though so I am looking forward to that! That is the last of my appointments this week. Next week I have appointments on Tuesday (with photos!) and Friday.
