Nathaniel’s carseat part 2…

Well today I got the carseat that we ordered over the weekend. It is the Britax Chaperone.

First I tested it out in our stroller.

As you can see it fit quite well. The sun shade is WAY bigger then the Cybex Aton 2’s sun shade.

However the 2 sun shades (from the carseat and the stroller) puzzle well together to provide complete coverage for a young infant.

This photo shows the gap in the sunshades. There is a bit of the top of the carseat still sticking up there so a larger infant may not like this much. Smaller infants should be fine though.

This is a look at the pattern that we chose. It is called Cowmooflage and it is black, white, and a light brown that is hard to photograph. It just adds a bit of texture to the print. Those of you that remember my grandfather Harlow (that Nathaniel is going to be partially named after) would remember that he had cows for a while. So this is more then fitting.

This is showing the angle of the carseat while in the stroller. This isn’t safe for driving in a car, but is fine for the purposes of being in the stroller.

Next I installed it in the minivan. This was easy. I would expect nothing else from Britax. As you can see I got a good angle on the carseat as newborns you don’t want sitting too upright. This is as close as I could get to the recline without being dangerous. This carseat also comes with an infant insert for “low birth weight” or babies under 11 lbs. I think the term “low birth weight” is a bit insulting. There are not many babies born over 11 lbs!

This shows the carseat in the car. I have the handlebar back because I was testing where it could go. I believe when I am driving with Nathaniel in the car, it will be primarily up, just for added protection.

It is very bright today so I couldn’t see very well when I took this photo. I am glad that it turned out well. This is showing how close the carseat is to the front passenger. This is more then okay, and I can get my hand under the carseat to release the carseat from the car easily.

This video showed Tony about anti-rebound that made Tony want that for our son. The anti-rebound bar you can see in the second to the last photo above. It is the bar that is against the seat back.
