On the whole carseat issue for Nathaniel. I am so confused and I am hoping that others can help me.
This is a couple videos on the carseat that we had ordered. This is the Cybex Aton 2. This first video shows the European version of the seat but it is basically the same except for the way the latch (Isofix) system works and the American version has a chest clip on the belts.
The other seat hasn’t been released in the US yet. It is the Nuna Pipa. It should be released in about a month.
This shows the Pipa at a recent car seat convention (yes there is such a thing!). I have been told that the US version will have a red and not black canopy on the red carseat (what we would be getting). This was showing what the American version would likely look like.
Other information that we are looking at with both seats.
Max was 24.5 lbs at 1 year of age. Nathaniel looks like (we think) to be about the same size.
The Cybex Aton 2 has a weight limit of 35 lbs.
The Nuna Pipa has a weight limit of 28.5 lbs.
Both carseats cost the same. Both will likely fit into the stroller the same.
The side impact “wings” of the Cybex Aton I am a bit concerned how they would work with our side curtain airbags on the minivan.
We have a 2000 Camry (without latch) and a 2007 Odyssey (with latch). The children are RARELY in the Camry but we like to have it available should we need it.
I will be making a cover that is shower cap style for the Aton should we get that. The Pipa clearly doesn’t need anything so I wouldn’t have to make something for that.
So what would your choice be?
