Is PBS addictive??

I took this photo about an hour ago. Max was throwing an absolute FIT about wanting to watch PBS. Yes he woke up Nathaniel in the process.
This all started last week. We had several appointments and all but one, I let him watch the DVD player which is either Disney or Cat in the Hat. So cartoons. Max wanted to watch more cartoons when we got back home and he did pretty well so I let him watch a bit of PBS (no Sesame Street). The next day, he did well with his schoolwork, and he wanted to watch a bit more so I let him. I didn’t really think much about it. He normally watches either Science or History channels while playing. This weekend he wanted to watch PBS again, but at the times he wanted it, the shows that are meant for kids, were not on. This showed us something with him. He threw a HUGE fit about this lack of programing. He asked us several times over the weekend but after the second HUGE fit, I wasn’t going to put it on for him, even if it was on!
Yesterday, he threw a huge fit about it before schoolwork time. I wasn’t having it. I didn’t let him watch TV again last night till after Tony got home, except for the Yankee/Red Sox game that was on that I wanted to see. He did do his schoolwork and didn’t watch any PBS.
So today I decide that I don’t want him seeing any PBS at all either. I can’t have him having constant fits when it isn’t on. He only does this with Top Gear and even that is getting better with time now. He wakes up from his nap and I come down a couple of minutes later. The TV is on History channel (Modern Marvels) and he wants to watch PBS after watching this for about 45 minutes. Watching may be a bit strong as normally he plays and watches, it isn’t like he is just sitting there with his face against the TV for that whole time… unless he is ill.
I tell him I don’t want him to watch PBS but in a few minutes Mythbusters (one of his favorite programs) will be on. He then proceeds to throw a 60 minute fit. The photo above was taken in the middle of it. I send a text message to Tony to let him know that it is going on and he tells me to never put on PBS again for him. I can’t believe that my sweet little boy can be so swayed in just a few times of watching PBS!
He is calm now and watching (not playing because after 1 hour of crying, he has little energy) Time Warp on Science Channel. Clearly I have to just wait this one out with him wanting to see PBS. However I never in a million years thought that I would have such a monster after just a few short showings of PBS. It almost seemed like he was addicted to it.
