Tear drop trailer…

Last night I started dreaming. There is only so much that I can look at baby things before even I go insane… yes my family just dropped their jaws to the floor!

I had seen these in the past but didn’t think much about them, but maybe since our camping trip last year, I started thinking more and more about RV’s and such. However the problem with the RV or motor home is either A) you are paying a fortune for something that you don’t have a car when you get to your destination (like a motorhome) not to mention the seat belts are not at the same standard as cars (so not as safe for the kids, driver and front passenger are fine but I want my whole family to be safe!) or B) you are having to have a huge SUV or truck to pull the thing! I love my minivan! I don’t want an SUV. If I wanted one, we would have got one when we got the minivan!

This answers all those problems!!

This is a Tear drop trailer. They used to be popular but then we decided that you need to have a bathroom, full kitchen and everything else to go camping. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy that too, but I don’t camp like I used to as a kid. We can’t just go to a forrest around here and pull off the side of the road and pitch a tent. That sort of thing doesn’t exist out here that I have been able to see, unlike in Washington when I was a kid. So needing a toilet, isn’t a mandatory thing for me. I will only camp at campgrounds around here. The whole thing is 12 feet long, 6.5 feet wide and about 61 inches tall. You can’t stand up in this.

Inside you see a large sleeping area (below) and a sofa. Perfect for when it starts raining and you need a place to hide! Or if you want to watch TV in said rain storm!
Here a look at the sofa with the windows! There is storage behind the back of the sofa that you can see in the top photo. It is that little bump out the front. The top part is inside storage, the bottom is outside storage.

The sofa turns into twin bunk beds for children. I know what you are thinking. Yeah, Max is a kid now, but he will grow. Yeah I know that but I also remember when I would go camping as a kid, that when I was about 12ish, I wanted to sleep with my cousin in our own tent! I assume my children will be no different. Then this will turn into a nice area for adults while the kids have a more “roughing it” experience. 🙂 You can also see the storage behind the couch in this photo.

This is the “kitchen”. You access it from the outside. To the left you see a little pocket where the propane stove has a home. The drawer above that is for utensils and such. Plenty of storage with under the counter (lift up) bins and the side compartment to the right. The space in the middle is designed to fit a cooler and there are 2 tables that fit in here that attach to the outside, one for the cooler (which also fits the fire extinguisher!) and another that is another prep surface or a dining table.

At this time in my life, I think I am not really equipped to deal with hot sleeping conditions. Yes that is my mother laughing that you hear as she will say I was NEVER equipped to deal with hot conditions. So having an air conditioner is nice! I love how this one doesn’t look like the big things that you normally see on RV’s. You know the big box! This one fits in nicely and looks small enough that you don’t even notice it!

You just have to love the blend of modern, with classic here! A TV that looks like an old TV but you just flip a switch and you can find extra storage behind it!

Here is where you can see more about this trailer if I peaked your curiosity.

There are less expensive options out there but I love the classic look and function of this one. It looks like something from a time long past but happily not forgotten. I know it will be a while before we can afford such a dream, but it is fun to dream none the less.
