Music…

I have noticed something about my pregnancies. All of them have a musician that I listen to more for that time.

For the triplets I was always singing “Wonderful World” to them. Which is really sad when you think of what happened to them, but I tried. I would play Louis Armstrong’s version whenever I had a chance to them though.

Emily after she came out, clearly liked the Carpenters. So now whenever I hear Karen Carpenter I always think of Emily.

For Max I played Queen CONSTANTLY. Max and I were always jamming out to Freddy Mercury. I wasn’t even that big of a Queen fan. I mean I like them but I became a bigger fan with Max’s pregnancy. Max to this day loves Queen and music in the Queen vein.

This baby seems to be liking John Lennon. I am still trying to figure out if it is JUST John Lennon or if it is all the Beatles. I have been listening to John Lennon on You Tube as I have yet to download any music from him and I have no CD’s of him or the Beatles (Yes that sound you here is my father’s jaw hitting the floor!!). Max has told me repeatedly that he doesn’t like John Lennon (to which I am trying to figure out if he is my son but that a different post). He must take after Tony as he has said the same. You think you know someone!!

Anyway, last night in my quest to find out if it is just John Lennon or all the Beatles that the baby likes, I played a song by George Harrison. Max said he liked him then he said, “I’ve seen his picture on 60’s”. Which I thought was odd as I didn’t say that this was 60’s music (which it isn’t as the Beatles were still together then, so it would be 70’s music at the earliest). It was just a bit shocking for me.

After he went to bed I started thinking about all of this and realized that all of these people have 1 thing in common (other then being musicians of the 20’th century). They are all dead. I thought that was odd as I like other musicians that are very much alive. And there are quite a few that I like that are still alive.  And even more strange, is all but Louis Armstrong, who died of a heart attack at the age of 70, all of them died under tragic circumstances.

Karen Carpenter died at the age of 32 after a heart attack that is thought to have been brought on by years of Anorexia.

Freddy Mercury died at the age of 45 from complications of AIDS. A condition that had he got a few years later, would have been able to be treated and he would have likely still be alive today.

John Lennon I think everyone knows how he died. He was 40 and was shot outside his home in New York City.

Changing gears, I am finally starting to get well. Max gave me a heck of a cold that made me actually forget what importance Saturday was. It is hard to believe it has been 6 years since I said goodbye to my little girl.
