This is where Max slept.
This is where we slept…
We had a vent blown off our dryer vent.
This tree had some branches fall down.
The front of our house.
A trash can hit a car that was in front of our house.
This tree has some big branches come down.
This is a vocational school. It had shingles blow off that were all over.
This was a power line that went down. This is near an intersection and that light was out.
This may be hard to see but there are leaves plastered to this house. All over top to bottom.
A branch in our driveway.
Tony has heard from most of his co-workers and they are all without power. Today we went to Dunkin Donuts and the line was nearly out the door. Most of those people had no power. So there was no power around us, but thankfully we still have power.
Last night the wind was really bad. I went upstairs at one point and even if they hadn’t told me about this storm and I was living in a huge bubble where I didn’t get news, I wouldn’t have slept up there. The wind was howling up there. The first floor of the house was quieter and in the basement we heard nothing. Clearly we slept in the right spot last night.
Fenway had to go out last night and to our shock, this timid little dog of ours had no problem with all that was going around him. It was almost like he thought it was fun… very strange!
The longest our power was out last night was for 30 seconds.
We have learned from Sandy that we would like to have a generator. Not for our freezer, but because we are worried about our sump pump. Honestly the storm we had last year (Hurricane Irene) we had FAR more rain with. So in that way, that storm was worse. Sandy was more of a wind event for us. We figure it is a matter of time before we have a both event for us. We think a generator for the sump pump would really help us as rain events without power could cause flooding. So I will start researching that in the coming days and weeks. I am not looking forward to storing the gas for the generator so I will be looking for the most efficient one available.
Here is videos of Max doing school work last night:
