A bit of the weekend…

My cold seems to be on the way out so this weekend I tried to do some helping around the house. Tony started the monster project of staining the playset this weekend. I would like to say he is about 1/2 way there, but sadly I know that there is a TON of wood on that thing so I don’t think that is the case. I think he got about 1/3 of the way there IF he doesn’t have to do any second coats.
As you can see we did some canning. I canned beets (back row). These will come in handy soon (hopefully). During Max’s pregnancy I ate a TON of pickled beets! We also canned some pickled beans. Finally I used the “no sugar added pectin” and made strawberry jam. I sweetened it with a bit of honey but didn’t use anywhere near what they say to.
This is our hydrangea all in bloom! Tony says that he loves how we have a yellow (St. John’s Wart) and the purple in our front yard. He went to a college that had purple and gold as it’s colors. Trust me this wasn’t intentional!!
This is silly Maximillian. Last night I noticed that he matched the couch and wanted to get a photo of that.
Well today is Monday and I am making a lemon, poppy seed, zucchini bread. We will have to see how it turns out. If it turns out well, then I will have to make a few more and freeze them (uncooked). Need to use up the zucchini.
Wednesday I have another doctor appointment and Thursday is back to the farmer. I am hoping that one day this week I can go blueberry picking. I thought we had frozen blueberries but sadly I realized yesterday that we didn’t. So blueberry picking we need to do!
