Having fun with the CSA…

Today we had our pick up at the CSA. They had suffered some loss last Thursday due to a hail storm. So because of that I wasn’t really expecting much this week. BOY, was I wrong!! Again, we have only a half share!
We had to pick the strawberries ourselves, so this is Max in the fields. Next week I will try to get a photo of him picking the berries.
Here he is sampling what we picked.

In order to get from parking, to where we pick the berries, we had to ride on the back of a tractor. Or at least on a trailer attached to a tractor.

And here is our haul for this week:
4 heads of lettuce
1 lbs of spinach
1/4 lbs arugula
1 Boc Choy
1 bunch of Kale
1 bunch of radishes
1 garlic scapes (more about that found here)
1 quart of strawberries
In case your wondering how much we paid for all this fun and excitement (and of coarse food). We paid $380 for the season. That works out to about $15.20 a week and the farm that we use is 100% organic.
Next week we should be able to get more strawberries so that should be fun!
