Today we went to a new church. I have had issues with the Catholic church for some time now and I got to a point where I had to see if we could find a place where I could feel at home. Tony has also had different issues then me but come to same conclusion. So today we went to a Lutheran church that we had never been to before. It is a bit out in the country and takes us about 20-30 minutes to get there. I, of coarse, then allowed 45 minutes so we got there before anyone else did really. Ha ha!
The church itself is new and fairly modern (built 2 years ago) but to my surprise this doesn’t bother me. I always thought I needed a traditional church but this church feels warm and the clear windows to the sides (see second photo) I didn’t find distracting or anything. The sanctuary is wide, so it feels more intimate then some churches. They have a cry room which is nice for if Max misbehaves. I know I was able to relax a bit more there just knowing that it was available and knowing that I wouldn’t be out of ear shot should Max act up. Services themselves were nice and very relevant to our lives. I joked with Tony that he really needed that sermon as it was on waiting for things in God’s time and not ours.
We were welcomed by several families and that was nice. We also saw that even though we went to the first service of the day, 8 am, there were several families there. So many that the center pews were filled when the pastor gave his children’s homely. I told Tony afterwards that it has been a long while since I saw that many children in church.
All told it was very nice and we plan on going back next Sunday. Though I think I will try to bring relevant things for Max to do as he got bored half way through and though he didn’t need the cry room, he was a bit distracting. I should also point out that Max did talk to a few of the people that we had encountered while there. We were a bit shocked as he normally doesn’t talk to strangers. While we don’t want him to talk to strangers when we are not around, not that that ever happens at his young age, we don’t mind him saying a few words to someone when we are talking with them too. This is what Max did.
Microwave experiment day 2. So far so good!
