An expirement…

As you can see we have removed our microwave from the kitchen. We are now going to try to live without a microwave for a week. Why you ask? Well for a number of reasons. One, the way we eat now it is recommended that we do not use microwaves or pressure cookers. I don’t have a pressure cooker so that was easy, microwave, not so much. We are also suppose to cook on stainless steel or cast iron. This would be a costly change so microwave is far easier. Third, food never tastes good to me after it has been microwaved. Either you have to eat it before it cools again or you get rubber or you are eating something that is akin to swimming in a pool full of children. You get hot and cold spots all over it. Eww!! Forth, well honestly after you have cancer, you grasp at straws as to why this could have possibly happened to you. There are never answers and often just questions, however a microwave is an easy thing to stop using so why not?

Our microwave will reside in the basement until either our experiment is over or we decide to make over the basement into a guest bedroom and they can use it if needed.

We had left over night tonight, as luck would have it, and it wasn’t too bad reheating things. I honestly thought it would take FAR longer then it did to reheat things. I would hazard to say that it didn’t take any longer then with a microwave. Amazing really!

I should also say a word here about the blog. The end of the year is close and I thought I would mention that I am hoping to continue with the once a day (or more if needed) posts. My hope now is to have different themes for everyday and that the photos for those things can be taken anytime in the prior week. This will make it so if I have a busy day I should still have a well thought out photo. One of the days of the week I hope to have something about how we now eat. I think there is some family that is confused by it and others that think it takes a long time to eat like this. However it is far from the truth. My hope is to show that isn’t the case always. Anyway that is one of the things coming. I will post more as to what is happening what day as we get closer to the first of the year.

Well that is all for now!
