Answer to a question…

I was asked about the chemicals in children’s sleepwear. I found this link that probably explains it better then I can. Essentially, unless the clothing is very snug (no air gaps between clothes and body) all children’s sleepwear sold in this country is either treated while the fabric is being made, or after the garment is made. If you want your child to have loose fitting PJ’s that are not treated (and natural fibers therefore) you have to make them yourself.

All of the fabrics that I used, said very clearly on them not intended for children’s sleepwear. I contend that until my child picks up smoking, he will be fine. The only fire that he would even potentially have access to is our stove/range. We watch him closely when he is in the kitchen so I don’t see this as an issue. Besides all of the normal everyday wear that children wear that is not intended for sleep (shirts, pants, dresses for girls) isn’t treated. Most of the time that he is in the kitchen he is wearing things that are not fire retardant anyway.

I hope that answers the question.

PET/CT was done. I am now going to vote radioactive. Ha ha! I don’t think I will get much sewing done today as Max created a long night last night and I had to wake up early. So nap time for me.

Talk to you soon!
