Well after the VERY early start to the day, things have progressed well.
Max had breakfast in our seat in coach. Then he wanted to see what else was on the train so we walked around a bit and talked to a lady playing solitare in the lounge car. We also tried out Max’s train legs walking on the train. Our train to Chicago was only a few minutes late getting into Chicago, so we were able to look around some. We walked down to State street where there is shopping but we didn’t see any stores that we wanted to go to so we walked back to Union station.
Amtrak offers a special lounge for people going in sleeper cars in Chicago (as well as a handful of other cities). This lounge offers free coffee, snacks, and other beverages. The furniture is all nice and it barely feels like a train station. So we spent the rest of our time in Chicago there.
Max decided he wanted to play so he crawled around on the floor a ton. He loved it!
