Well today Max is doing quite well. I thought I would try to put him on a schedule. Well I think it is a bit of a learning process for both of us but at least he is going down quite nicely now.
The only real problem is he only sleeps for about 1 hour then he wakes up. I wanted him to have a 2 hour nap so I let him get to a cry then I went in there and calmed him down. After unsuccessfully trying to get him to sleep again, he woke up and I put him in his crib and let him play till the 2 hours were up. Ironically that is about the time that he thought his crib wasn’t fun anymore. Ha ha!
This made Max get tired when we went to the grocery store though. He did quite well at the store and one person thought he was reading a box that I was looking at. Ha Ha! I told them that it wouldn’t surprise me if he was reading but doesn’t get that from me. Ha ha! Anyway Max tried to fall asleep when we were checking out. Then he tried to go to sleep in the car ride home.
I was successful in not getting him to sleep but then I thought that I would move the last nap that I had planned for him up an hour then let him sleep for 2 hours. This just happen to work out about the same time as I got done putting the groceries away. Sadly at that point though Max wanted to be awake. So I did what I have been using as a nap time routine then put him in his crib. He talked and played a bit then when he had enough and started crying I went in there and nursed him to sleep.
So he is currently sleeping. I figure if I can get his nap time down then I can work on his night time sleep.
I did get Max to play a bit on the floor today. He hadn’t been doing that for a few days. So that was fun.
That is about all I can think of for today.

Every early childhood teacher knows that children benefit from a regular routine. Keep at it with the naps. Once you get into a routine, he will know what to expect next and that makes a huge difference in their disposition throughout the day.

Hi Jennifer,
It sure is fun to read of the daily happenings with Max. Thanks so much for taking the time!
His teeth sure are cute!
Hopefully your new nap routine will work out well. Sounds like a good plan.
Have a great rest of your day.
