I don’t have much to report today but thought I would post a message anyway.
I hope those of you that are in Southern Califorina are alright. I talked to my grandmother yesterday and she assured me that all of my family is (my grandmother doesn’t live down there but she is command centeral for family news). I can’t believe that someone would intentionally set any of those fires. I guess some people really need psychatric help sometimes and they fall through the cracks.
My birthday was bittersweet this year, but I was expecting that (it was the 22nd for those who wanted to know). Last year Emily was extubated and while this was the best birthday present ever, it made this year a bit hard especially with the miscarriage. Since the night before the Red Sox made it to the World Series, Tony was able to get is pizza. We got it on my birthday and got extra so that we have been eating it for the last 2 nights as well. Tonight should be the last of that.
The cable was not really figured out. I called the company but I got the impression that it was the blind leading the blind (no offense to blind people) there. I think I will just have to see what channels disappear on the 31st when it happens. I just hope that whatever channels disappear it isn’t Fox so I can’t see game 7 of the World Series, if it should go that far.
Tony got his Tetenus and Flu shots on Tuesday. Now he is complaining about how it hurts to which I am telling him not to be a baby about it. I know I sound cold but really, if you look back you can see the picture of all the stuff I had to inject into myself recently. He has no room to complain! Also I have all the sharps containers here to remind me of that pain. He doesn’t even have the needles! Ha ha!
In other news, I am looking forward to going to the Lutheran church this weekend. They are having a congregational meeting this weekend after services to pick a new pastor. The last pastor retired, but is still in the area, last July. Tony has informed me that Catholics don’t do this and they are stuck with whomever they get. So I fear that if I don’t see this process I will never see how this process works. So we will have a big day on Sunday. I am just thankful that it worked out that we go to the Lutheran church anyway that day for services. I don’t know how I could ever watch the late night World Series and then get up in time for 7AM services at the Catholic church! Yikes!! The Lutherans make it so we don’t need to be there till 9am. He He!
That is about all I can think of for now. Talk to you all later!

Hi Jennifer,
It has been quite a week here in San Diego. Thankfully none of our fires were set by an arsonist. We are lucky enough to live in an area that was not evacuated and the only problem we have is poor air quality and some ash falling. Four years ago we packed up and were ready to leave. This time one of our daughters did put her pictures, papers and some clothes in her car ready to go as the fire got fairly close to her house. Of course, her husband was out of town on business. Right now everything in San Diego is in much better shape. The fire that was somewhat near us has now moved farther east and the last I heard is not threatening any homes right now. We do have friends that had to evacuate but thankfully none of them lost their homes. We had several friends lose their homes four years ago.
Our other daughter lives an hour north of San Diego and they are in the middle of two fires so are also suffering from very poor air quality and ash. Our schools have been closed all week and theirs closed yesterday until further notice. They had very high winds for several days but those have died down now. There is more humidity today so that should be good news for the firefighters.
Now we just need to pray for the Orange County and Riverside County fires.
Glad you got to have pizza for your birthday! Can’t believe how the Red Sox are doing.
Take care and have a good weekend,
Rowena
