Nathaniel eating plantain chip.

Well Nathaniel has decided that he wanted to eat food. Not just milk. So Saturday he had his first pop tart. Not the chalk like pop tarts that come in a foil like bag, 2 to a pack, 3 packs to a box type of pop tart, but the Mama made kind of pop tart (link here). He loved it! Yeah it isn’t normally what a kid eats at first but hey, who said Nathaniel likes to be normal? Since then he has tried plantain chips (homemade and they were soft), and mashed potato (homemade). He also tried a bit of avocado but I think that he didn’t like much. So now he has discovered food!

We went to the doctor today for Nathaniel. The doctor said that he isn’t that concerned about Nathaniel as he is growing and meeting normal milestones. He said that normally parents with small children like this are more anxious about them and questioned why we were not. I said that we had had severely premature triplets and got to know NICU life. For us if the child is not blue and/or bleeding, they are okay. Nathaniel when you don’t compare him to other children looks normal and behaves like a normal 5.5 month old baby. It is only when you compare him to other children or have him near his peers that you realize how small he is. I guess lucky for us, we are not around that many other babies.

The doctor was satisfied with this answer and we are to come back at the end of February. YAY! 2 months off… at least for him.

Well I hear little Nathaniel now wanting to go to bed. So I guess that is what we will be doing!
