Today is a very busy day but I wanted to post an update to the blog.
Max now has a new tooth. He got his upper left molar in today (I think… I just noticed it today). I think I can get a photo of it today so I will try to do that and update the blog tomorrow (a quieter day then today).
Max has also shown an interest in reading without us prompting him. This last Saturday I had a dentist appointment so Tony was watching him. Tony put Max in his room (which is completely child safe) and took his shower. When he came out Max was reading one of his Your Baby Can Read books. Well these books are not like board books and Tony started to take it away fearing that he may hurt it. Well Max HATED this and protested loudly. So Tony then read to him the whole book and Max was paying attention the whole time. I have also noticed that Max drops everything to read these books.
We actually think this had something to do with Max being “bad” last week. He took down one of Tony’s books (fiction and not extremely valuable) and ripped the cover to it. At the time I was not happy and told Max that. I then proceeded to go to the store to get fitted sheets so we can cover the bookcases. Anyway we now think that Max may have thought all books were like his and he was trying to “lift the flap”.
Max has also started doing some lying. Tony recently read an article on how children who lie at an early age are actually quite intelligent because of the fact that they have to keep a lot of things straight in order to keep up the lie. Which to me make sense. Well the other day I was feeding Max and Tony was paying close attention to him. He would pick up some food, put it close to his mouth, go “Mmmmm!” then drop in in his lap without actually eating it. Tony watched him and he did this several times. At the time I think I was trying to get Max to eat something that he didn’t want to eat.
In other news our appointment to our RE (infertility doctor) has been pushed back to the 28th of September. This is also the day of Max’s 1 year checkup.
Max did go to the doctor this last Saturday. He has had a diaper rash for some time now. He is fine and on the mend. However he was weighed and he weighs 25 lbs 13.9 oz (11.734 KG). At this rate we will have to get 2 car seats next year at least! Ha ha!
I follow a blog that recently posted a recipe. So I thought I would share 2 of our favorites recently.
German Apple Pancake I make this with the fake eggs and everything and it is WONDERFUL!!
We are also using a lot of White Barbecue sauce a lot. This stuff you can put on almost everything and it has turned into a staple in our house.
White Barbecue Sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon spicy mustard (we use Guldens)
2 teaspoons minced garlic (we use 2 cloves)
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1-2 teaspoons black pepper
Combine and enjoy!
Well that is all I have for now. We have been VERY busy trying to finish Max’s room. My mom and step father will be up this weekend too so that should be a nice break for us.
