Introducing Lewis… with Max.

This is Lewis…

Lewis was created for our trip so that he could help doctument our journey. I ordered a custom monkey from a lady with these instructions/back story on Lewis.

We want this monkey to become a permanent fixture in our travel routine, and the monkey we turn to, to document our journey. It is my hope that he will become as much as of a necessity as the suitcase even when my children get older and may not be into toys as much. We would also like him to be able to function as a toy though.

The back story… His name is Lewis. He is a traveling monkey that has a monkey in every port (so he is a bit suave) and whose favorite song is “Travelin’ Man” by Ricky Nelson. He is joining our family after realizing that even a traveling monkey needs a home port.

His next journey is a perilous one. He will be taking a train cross country (from New Jersey to Portland, Oregon) with a 9 month old boy, his mother and grandmother. He will face countless challenges both on this journey and in the 2 and a half weeks he is in the pacific northwest, before returning (out of Seattle) back east, though Wisconsin (where he will face a few more obstacles for a few days) and returning to New Jersey.

There is talk of a second journey this year to Florida. One that he will likely get to know well as his home port often goes down there.

As you can see Lewis was highly antisipated. Max took an instant liking to him so I think that this monkey is in fact “Lewis”.

We have been busy packing and getting ready for our trip. My mother will be getting in on Friday night and we are leaving Saturday afternoon. It will definately be quite a journey!

In other news I thought I would give an update on the Your Baby Can Read program that we are doing with Max.

Max is VERY active right now (which I know is developmental… he just figured out how to move after all). However we have been going through with the program. This is all one video but I had to divide it to get it on here. Max has been doing the program since June 24 (we got it in the afternoon on that day). I will also note that because Max was SOOO active at this filming we only did this for maybe 10 minutes in total… and that includes the part before I took this and me getting the camera.

As you can tell he is starting to read and clearly knows at least the word “hi” by sight. Quite impressive!

That is all for now!
Jennifer
