About my egg retrieval…

I was trying yesterday to make one post about how the embryo’s are doing (or how many fertilized) and on the same post, talk about my egg retrieval and how I am feeling. Since I seem to get busy at the same time as I get my reports, I am writing now in 2 posts.

The egg retrieval wasn’t that bad. Though I did feel like I was back in the hospital when mom told me when she gave birth to me that they wouldn’t let her leave with out going number 2. They told me to go to the bathroom 2 times even though I went as soon as we got there, and they didn’t allow me to drink anything after 7 pm the night prior. So that was funny to say the least. Ha ha!

The Anaesthesiologist got his times mixed up so he was late to the office. Once there he had issues with the pulse ox (Emily always had issues with hers, this measures oxygen in the blood) and he was forced to do my IV in my “bad arm”. After beating up my hand some he was able to find a vein but it was too small to get blood out of, so after my egg retrieval I had to get blood drawn.

While waiting for the Anesthesiologist they had the window open to the baby lab. I was sitting up and could see inside to the giant drums that they have the frozen embryo’s in. I wondered what one had Baby E in it. That was sort of cool to see that because normally you can’t see in there let alone go in.

Once he gave me the medication I was out. Next thing I know I am in the bed that is the recovery bed. I know I had to have got up on my own power but I have no recollection of this, unlike last time. When I woke up they were still counting my eggs but could tell me I had at least 10. A short time passed and the embryologist came out and told me I had 15.

After I felt a little more awake I got up and changed. Then I got my blood taken and my instructions for the next few days. I am on so many pills right now. I take an antibiotic twice a day, a steroid 4 times a day (which makes me hungry all the time and craving foods I haven’t craved in months), progesterone (orally) 3 times a day, then all of my other pills that I take everyday, 2 fish oils, my 2 pill prenatal, vit C, and Vit E (twice a week). That is in addition to the progesterone in oil injections that I get twice a day. I am a walking pharmacy! Ha ha!

It took me till about 5 or 6 pm Thursday to actually start to feel pain again. It wasn’t that bad I was just sore. I was sore yesterday morning as well. I am feeling better now. I was just sore where my ovaries are. Now I am sore where my progesterone in oil injections are. Oh well I can’t have everything. Ha ha!

Well that is about all my story. I wanted to get it down before I forget.
I will update when I get my report on our 12 today.
