CD 7… on the way to Max and Lizzie!

Hello everyone!

Well today’s appointment went well. Here is the data:

I have 21 follicles under 10 mm
I have three follicles that are 12 mm, one that is 11 mm, and one that is 10 mm.
My lining is 11.5
I am to increase my Repronex to 225 IU once a day. I will go back on Friday.

I have to share some of what we have been going through that is not related to my cycle.

Issue #1 – We were trying to get reimbursed from our insurance company for the anesthetic from the last IVF attempt. After many rounds with our insurance company we found out that the anesthetic is an “in network” expense. So in short (and this is really short) we should have never paid for it out of pocket to begin with. That anesthegia is a different company then my RE. So now I have someone at my RE trying to resolve this for us, preferably before my egg retrieval next week. So I will keep you posted on that one.

Issue #2 – Ironically with insurance again. Back in November I realized that I was running out of my prenatals that I take. They are a prescription prenatal (the difference is the amount of folic acid in it) and when going to my local pharmacy I realized that they only paid about $4 of each month supply. Figuring that we could get this reduced someway (since a month supply costs about $54) I called to see if I can get it from my mail order pharmacy with my insurance. I can and it saves us money! So last November I get my RE to send this prescription for a 90 day supply with 5 refills to my mail order pharmacy. Without a word, I get a single 30 day supply box in the mail about 2 weeks later. Not thinking too much about it, and happy that I have my prenatals I ignore it till Saturday when I go to get a refill.

I call the pharmacy (closed but an automated system is always working), the automated system proceeds to tell me that they can’t fill this prescription till 1/12. Confused I hang up the phone and try to figure this out. On the prescription label it says “take one pill once a day”. Then it says under quantity it says 60. Confused I look further. Then I see that it was filled on 11/28/07. Really confused I call on Monday to resolve this. I tell them that my prenatal is a 2 pill prenatal. I have a DHA (gel cap with oil in it) and a prenatal tablet. I tell them that any reasonable person could see this by just picking up the box (let alone opening the box and looking at the blister pack). After many levels I get to someone who says that she will get the pharmacy to change the count to match 60 days and not 30. She then tells me to call on Wednesday (today) to confirm that everything has been resolved and the vitamins are on their way.

So I call today. They have no notes of this call on Monday. Who knows where that went. Then I go 50 rounds with someone who tells to me that there is a spot on the prescription to write how many days the doctor wanted me to have but it is blank (my RE denies this). And in their wisdom they didn’t think to call the doctor when the 90 (which they take to mean actual pills not days) is the wrong quantity and can’t be dispensed like that. I try to reason with the lady on the phone that any reasonable person filling the prescription could see that it is a 2 pill per day drug. I told her it is impossible to open the blister pack and not take both pills. No reaction from her. I then then ask her, since I have only 6 days left is there any way I can get this prescription filled so I can not be without the medication. She can’t assure me of that. I tell her that I am in an IVF cycle and that I will be running out of this medication precisely when I likely need it most. Still she could care less. Frustrated I end up hanging up on her (likely not her first hang up on either).

The good news is my RE is willing to resend this prescription down to this pharmacy. I told them to make sure to put in bold and caps 90 DAY SUPPLY. They have also told me that they will give me samples of other prenatals to get me by till my pharmacy can get me the medication. Judging by how long it took me to get my estrogen that I need for this IVF cycle, I am thinking that I may get this prescription (that was faxed while I spoke with my RE’s office today) some time around valentines day. Ha ha!

That is all I have to report today! Talk to you all on Friday!

    Hi Jennifer,

So glad to hear that everything is on tract toward having Lizzie and/or Max!

Too bad about all the insurance problems. Hopefully everything will get iron out so that you don’t have to worry and waste enery and time on that!

Have you been doing any sewing lately?

Have a good rest of the day.

    Rowena
