Between 5 and 6 weeks

Well we are back home now.

I had an ultrasound today. It confused the living daylights out of me and clearly puzzled the doctor as well. Tony says that “unless your a scientist you shouldn’t try to interpret data, you should leave it to the professionals.” So I am trying to do that.

We saw one sack with a yoke sack. However my numbers are on the high side for singleton’s so we still think that there may be twins. Also if you remember our data from the triplets we went in and saw one sack with them and found 3 heartbeats with the second ultrasound.

Another thing is we are showing about the same as a 5 week gestational pregnancy. 5 weeks that is from last menses. I had my egg retrival 4 weeks ago today and typically speaking a woman ovulates on cycle day 14. So that would put me at 6 weeks not 5. So if you adjust my numbers (beta or HCG) to 5 weeks they are actually higher then they were with the triplets.

So what we know right now that is for sure: We know that I am pregnant with at least one child. He or she is in the correct spot and has a fetal pole and a yoke sack (no heartbeat can be detected yet). That is more or less all we know at this point. I did get a beta check again today and you know that Tony is all over that.

So that is our news. My next ultrasound is a week from Tuesday and I hope that I will have more news then. Tony thinks that one child is hiding and therefore we haven’t been able to see them yet. Ha ha!

I called to late today to get my beta numbers so I will try tomorrow and/or Monday to get them. I will also have beta and progestrone tests on Tuesday (get the results on Wednesday) and Thursday (get the results on Friday) next week.

That is all the information I have for now on me.

My father has got my new sister but they are all still in China. So far things are going about as expected. I guess my 5 year old sister is being protective of her and so far it is cute. I hope it continues to be that way.

  1. Jennifer and Tony,

Congrats on seeing at least one of the babies on the ultrasound. I am praying for a long and strong pregnancy with no complications, regardless of how many and what gender the child/ren is/are. You guys deserve the best.

Abby (and Sharon and Hallie, who cannot wait to meet a new playmate and teach him or her all the tricks of the trade…)
